Pediatric Hematology/Oncology

Treatment for Children with Blood Disorders and Cancer

SLUCare hematologists and oncologists provide a full range of clinical services to children and adolescents with blood disorders and cancer. Our specialists provide outpatient services at the Bob Costas Cancer Center at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital, and inpatient services in a specialized unit with dedicated space for hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.

We offer new patient consultations and ongoing clinical care for patients with blood disorders or cancer, including outpatient and inpatient chemotherapy infusions, blood component transfusions and general supportive care.

Our SLUCare physicians are experts in:

SLUCare hematologists and oncologists actively participate in the Children's Oncology Group, Pediatric Blood and Marrow Transplant Consortium, and Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research. Our team helped establish the Beat Childhood Cancer Research Consortium, which actively investigates innovative approaches to the treatment of childhood cancer.

In addition to a large number of oncology clinical trials, SLUCare pediatric hematologists and oncologists participate in national and pharmaceutical company-sponsored studies of hemostasis and sickle cell disease.

We also collaborate with the St. Louis Cord Blood Bank — a pioneer in the development of umbilical cord blood for stem cell transplantation and cellular therapies. The bank represents one of the largest such programs in the country.
