SLUCare's division of developmental pediatrics, housed at the Knights of Columbus Developmental Center, provides diagnostic evaluation, follow-up, support and advocacy for children and their families.
Our specialists provide advanced care for children with a broad range of neuro-developmental disabilities and communication disorders, particularly autism spectrum disorder (ASD), as well as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), intellectual disabilities and genetic disorders with associated developmental and behavioral concerns. Based on our expertise in autism, the Knights of Columbus Development Center has been designated a Missouri Center for Autism by the Department of Mental Health.
Our autism specialists offer PEERS, a social skills training program for adolescents with autism spectrum disorder and their families. In collaboration with the speech pathology and occupational therapy departments at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital, we also offer the Move to Communicate program that promotes communication in nonverbal preschoolers.
We offer information sessions for families of children newly diagnosed with ASD. We also provide clinical evaluations for children in early intervention programs, as well as developmental pediatric consultation for early intervention service coordinators for Southern Illinois.
