Pain, burning or itching in the vaginal area is not only physically uncomfortable, it can also affect a woman's quality of life and her intimate relationships.
SLUCare specialists offer relief for women of all ages who struggle with problems of the outer genital area and vagina. The majority of our patients have experienced troubling symptoms for months — even years — and have tried various treatments without success.
At the Vulvar and Vaginal Disorders Center, you'll find caring experts from Saint Louis University School of Medicine's Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Women's Health. These physicians have additional training and experience in the evaluation and treatment diseases affecting the vagina or vulva, including:
Cherie LeFevre, MD, Center Director
Susan Hoffstetter, PhD, WHNP-BC, FAANP
Andrew Steele, MD
The Vulvar and Vaginal Disorders Center staff will take your complete medical history, review your symptoms and discuss treatments you have tried in the past for problems with your vagina or vulva. We will perform an examination and necessary testing. You will then be counseled on guidelines to improve your vulvar and vaginal health.
Our experts recognize the emotional and psychological effects of problems involving the vagina and vulva, and offer a holistic approach in caring for women. Treatment options vary from the use of medications and surgery to physical therapy, biofeedback and psychotherapy.
