Concussion is a brain injury brought on by a blow to the head — frequently as the result of sports-related activities. Concussions may occur at any age and send millions of children and adults to hospital emergency departments each year.
In the SLUCare Concussion Clinic, you’ll be examined by a sports medicine physician trained in concussion evaluation, diagnosis and treatment. At your visit, your doctor will talk with you about any pre-concussion health concerns, as well as symptoms that may indicate a concussion, such as headaches, changes in sleep patterns, memory lapses or changes in cognitive function.
Our team includes an extended network of care through our academic medical practice, including specialists in neuropsychology and physical therapy, who can also assist patients recovering from concussion injuries.
Together, we will develop a plan to manage concussion symptoms and help patients ease back into normal activities.
